Orthodontic treatment for children

Orthodontic treatment for children

At Auckland City Orthodontics we also like to look after our younger patients by offering interceptive treatment. This treatment is designed to correct problems at an early age and reduce the potential severity of future orthodontic problems. Interceptive treatment can often involve widening of the child's arches to create more space for the teeth to grow but can also be used to correct bite problems.

Tooth-coloured braces

Tooth-coloured braces

Modelled on the traditional style of braces, tooth-coloured braces are designed to match the colour of your teeth, making them as discreet as possible. Unlike hidden braces and Invisalign aligners, they aren’t completely hidden from view, but the tooth-coloured braces we use here at Auckland City Orthodontics ensure you don’t need to feel self-conscious about having treatment. They’re also an affordable method of treatment with significant benefits.

Standard metal braces

Metal braces

If you have visions of train tracks whenever you think of braces, it’s the standard metal braces you are no doubt thinking of. But before you swear off orthodontic treatment completely, we like to tell you that standard metal braces have come a long way and are now much smaller and less noticeable. This makes them more comfortable to wear but still incredibly effective at moving teeth into position. Standard metal braces have three key parts: brackets that are bonded to the front surface of your teeth, an archwire that connects them, and thin elastic bands (sometimes called ligatures). These three components straighten your teeth by working together to apply gentle pressure to your teeth, guiding them into the desired position over the course of your treatment. The result will certainly be something to smile about!
