Are clear aligners
right for my child?
Clear aligners can be a great option for suitable children - but they aren’t right for everyone. Because they’re removable, results depend on wearing them as prescribed. A few simple habits make all the difference:
- Wear the aligners 20-22 hours a day
- Take them out only to eat, drink (other than water) and brush
- Move to the next set exactly as directed
- Keep them in their case - not wrapped in a napkin at lunch
At your consultation we’ll assess your child’s teeth and bite and talk honestly about whether aligners or braces would suit them better.
Invisalign®
First
Invisalign® First is designed specifically for younger children who still have a mix of baby and adult teeth. As well as straightening teeth, it can help guide how the dental arches develop and create room for adult teeth coming through - this can make it a great option for early treatment.
The aligners are clear and removable, so they fit neatly around school, sport and everyday life.
Angel Aligner
KiD
Angel Align KiD is Angel Align’s clear aligner option for children. It can be used with Dental Monitoring: your child sends regular scans from home using a phone, and our specialist team reviews their progress remotely.
This can mean fewer trips into the practice between appointments — helpful for families juggling school, work and after-school activities.

Aligners are usually worn 20 to 22 hours a day, and taken out only to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush. Wearing them consistently is the single biggest factor in getting a good result.
For suitable cases, and when they’re worn consistently, clear aligners can achieve excellent results. Some bites and tooth movements are still better treated with braces, though - your specialist orthodontist will recommend whichever will work best for your child.
Yes. Because the aligners come out for meals, there are no food restrictions - your child simply removes them to eat, brushes, and pops them back in. This also makes cleaning teeth easier than with braces.
