Clear aligners
for teens in Auckland
For the right teenager, clear aligners straighten teeth discreetly and lift out for meals, sport and photos. It’s a popular choice with teens who’d rather not have fixed braces - and every plan is designed and monitored by one of our Specialist Orthodontists across our four Auckland clinics.

A discreet option
for teenage smiles
Clear aligners suit a lot of teenagers - but not everyone, and not every case. Because they’re removable, they only work if they’re actually worn, so it’s worth being honest about whether your teen will keep to a routine:
- Worn 20-22 hours a day, in for everything but eating and brushing
- Taken out and kept safe in their case - not wrapped in a napkin
- Changed to the next set exactly as directed
At a consultation we’ll assess your teen’s teeth and bite and talk openly about whether aligners or braces are the better fit.
Why teens choose clear aligners
Straightening teeth during the teenage years is easier than ever, and clear aligners bring some genuine day-to-day advantages that matter at this age.
Here’s what teenagers (and their parents) tend to appreciate most.
Barely there
Clear and low-profile, so your teen can smile, present and pose for photos without feeling self-conscious about their treatment.
Removable for real life
Out for meals, sport and playing an instrument - and brushing and flossing stay simple, which helps keep teeth healthy.
Comfortable to wear
Smooth plastic with no brackets or wires, so there’s less to rub against cheeks and lips during sport or a long school day.
Progress from home
With Dental Monitoring, your teen sends regular scans from their phone, so some check-ins happen remotely, which can mean fewer trips into the practice.
The clear aligners
we use
We offer leading clear aligners, including Invisalign® and Angel Aligner, and choose the one best suited to your teen’s teeth and treatment goals. Both are planned and overseen by one of our Specialist Orthodontists - the aligners do the moving, but the expertise behind the plan is what gets the result.
Paired with Dental Monitoring, treatment stays on track between visits, with our team reviewing progress from scans taken at home.

Clear aligners for teens FAQs
Yes, for suitable teens. Clear aligners work well for many teenagers, but they’re not right for every case. Because they’re removable, results depend on wearing them consistently. One of our Specialist Orthodontists will assess your teen and advise honestly whether aligners or braces would suit them better.
Usually 20 to 22 hours a day - in for everything except eating, drinking anything other than water, and brushing. Consistent wear is the single biggest factor in getting a good result, which is worth talking through honestly with your teen.
They’re designed to be discreet. The aligners are clear and low-profile, so most people won’t notice your teen is wearing them - one of the main reasons teenagers like them.
Yes - that flexibility is a real plus. The aligners lift out for sport, playing an instrument or a school photo, then go straight back in. The only thing to watch is total wear time across the day.
Teeth move more slowly, and treatment can take longer or drift off plan. Wearing indicators and Dental Monitoring help us keep an eye on progress and step in early if wear time slips.
For suitable cases, and when worn consistently, clear aligners can achieve excellent results. Some bites and tooth movements are still better treated with braces - your orthodontist will recommend whichever will work best for your teen.
The cost depends on the complexity and length of treatment. At Auckland City Orthodontics we offer flexible deposits and interest-free payment plans, and you’ll receive a personalised quote at your consultation. See our costs page for more.
